Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska. We are hiring  Lift Operators and Attendants to conduct daily operations of our triple chair lift. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to advanced skiing or snowboarding experience. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold climates for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to maintain focus on guest safety during hectic and busy operating periods. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and re-create daily setup procedures with minimal supervision. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year of experience operating ski area tramways, chair lifts, or equivalent passenger conveyance equipment.  

  • Experience assisting with lift evacuation, climbing, or rope access work. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Lift Operator is responsible for daily inspections, set-up, documentation, and the safe operation of the ski lift to promote a safe and enjoyable skiing experience. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Monitors control panels, prepares loading and unloading areas, constructs lift mazes, and interacts with guests to promote a safe and enjoyable skiing experience under the direction of the Lift Manager. 
  • Work closely with other attendants, ski patrol, and guest services staff to assist in the loading of the chairlift, checking of tickets, and providing area information. 
  • Performs diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and remedies mechanical issues that can be addressed with on-site resources and equipment under the direction of the Lift Manager. 
  • Train to respond in emergency situations such as lift evacuations and other hazards to guests. 

 

Position Schedule:

This is a full time seasonal position with an average of 30-40 hours per week during the operating season. Regular Schedule is Thursday – Monday.

Rate of Pay: $17.00+ hourly. 

 

Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska. We are hiring professional ski patrollers to patrol ski trails and slope areas to mitigate hazards and respond to emergency situations as they arise. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of experience as a paid OR volunteer ski patroller. 
  • Current OEC certification.
  • Advanced Skiing Ability
  • Experience in assisting or conducting lift evacuations. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications in: EMS, Search and Rescue, avalanche rescue, rope access work, and industry workplace safety programs.
    • Prior Experience transporting patients in patrol toboggans.
  • Experience operating over the snow vehicles including: snow machines and grooming equipment. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Professional Ski Patroller is responsible for patrolling ski trails and slope areas to mitigate hazards and respond to emergency situations as they arise. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Enforce safe skiing practices according to the State of Alaska & Skeetawk’s Safety programs and policies.
  • Possess full knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures as outlined in the Ski Area Operations & Safety Plan.
  • Performs radio dispatch, record keeping, maintain volunteer and employee rosters, sign ins, and assist with staff scheduling. 
  • Patrol ski trails and slope areas to provide assistance and protection to skiers and report condition of trails, ski lifts, and snow cover on slopes.
  • Treat injured guests and safely transport patients off the hill by toboggan. 
  • Assist with lift operations, conduct lift evacuations, and assist with staff training.
  • Assist Mountain Operations staff with opening and closing procedures, staff training, dispatch duties, and record keeping.

Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska.

We are hiring a Grooming Operator and Maintenance Technician to manage daily operations of our winter trail grooming and terrain park programs. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-3+ years of experience operating snow grooming equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel engines, and troubleshooting mechanical systems. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold climates for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to maintain focus on safety during hectic and busy operating periods. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Heavy Equipment Operator or Mechanic certifications from accredited training institution

 

Position Responsibilities:

The Groomer Operator & Vehicle Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing daily operations of our winter trail grooming. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Daily inspections, documentation, preventative maintenance, repair, and the safe operation of the grooming equipment. 
  • Work closely with lift attendants, ski patrol, and guest services to assist in other ski area duties. 
  • Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and remedy mechanical issues that can be addressed with onsite resources and equipment. 

 

Position Schedule:

This is a full time seasonal position with an average of 30-40 hours per week during the operating season. Regular Schedule is Thursday – Monday.  Early morning and late night shifts are required as grooming happens during non-operating hours. 

Rate of Pay: $15.00+ hourly. Pay varies by level of certification and experience 

 

Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska. We are hiring Ski and Snowboard Instructors to teach group and private lessons to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Level 1 or higher PSIA/AASI Certification, or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to Ski/Snowboard for extended periods of time, requiring lifting, bending and twisting
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold climates for extended periods of time. 

 

Position Requirements:

The Ski/Snowboard Instructor is responsible for teaching group and private lessons to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assess student abilities in a reasonable amount of time to develop a strategy for improving their skill
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to students to improve their skiing or snowboarding abilities
  • Moderate athletic ability is required to perform all job related tasks
  • Work in good cooperation with rental staff, ski patrollers, lift operators, and groomers to ensure a safe a enjoyable guest experience

This is a part time seasonal position with an average of 10 hours per week during the operating season. This position will begin part time with scheduled training dates in December, and the season closing in April. Shifts will be available Thursday – Monday. Lessons are scheduled around the instructors regular schedule, but a commitment to be available more than 50% of regularly scheduled operating days is required for employment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain focus on professional customer service and guest safety during hectic and busy operating periods. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and re-create daily opening, closing, and set up procedures with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to responsibly manage; sales transactions, cash handling, and till accounting. 
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in cold climates for short periods of time. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in ski area ticket sales, ski school, sporting goods, food and beverage, or general customer service industry employment. 
  • Previous experience with the setup of points of sale systems, customer record keeping, and computer systems is preferred. 
  • Possession of current Alaska Food Workers Card, and TAPS certification. If a candidate does not have these certifications, they must acquire them within 15 days of hire. 

 

Position Details:

The Guest Services Yurt Staff are responsible to conduct daily guest service operations. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ticket, Pass, Membership, and Merchandise Sales
  • Providing customer Service and Visitor Information
  • Food and Beverage Sales
  • Cleaning, Maintenance, and daily sanitation of the Yurt and associated facilities. This includes assisting with snow removal and parking lot duties. 
  • Train to respond in emergency situations such as lift evacuations and other hazards to guests.

This is a full time seasonal position with an average of 30-40 hours per week during the operating season. Regular Schedule is Thursday – Monday.

Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska. We are hiring Ski/Snowboard Rental Technicians to perform customer service and safety related operations for sizing, adjusting, and safely releasing rental equipment to customers. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain focus on good customer service and guest safety during hectic and busy operating periods. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and re-create daily opening, closing, and set up procedures with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to responsibly manage; sales transactions, cash handling, and till accounting. Experience with point of sale and computer systems is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience as ski shop technician, ski school, or sporting goods customer service agent
  • Previous experience with binding testing equipment & ski tuning equipment is preferred. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Ski/Snowboard Rental Technicians are responsible to perform customer service and safety related operations for sizing, adjusting, and safely releasing rental equipment to customers. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Sizing and adjusting ski and snowboard rental equipment and accident investigation paperwork
  • Completing Marker Rental Technician certification within 10 days of hire
  • Performing Season Pass and Membership card distribution and proper record keeping
  • Performing ticket sales and other customer service duties such as a knowledge of daily conditions and hazards
  • Assisting in all other areas of operations including snow removal, lift operations, and guest services yurt staff duties
  • Train to respond in emergency situations such as lift evacuations and other hazards to guests.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician (MT) will support the mission of skeetawk by maintaining the infrastructure which has been developed. The MT will be primarily responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of all Skeetawk buildings and chairlifts. The MT will support the grooming department with Snowcat maintenance and vehicle maintenance. The MT will also work in conjunction with the General Manager to support on-site capital project construction.

Reports to: Mountain Manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in mechanical related field
  • Heavy equipment operator and/or mechanic experience.
  • Construction experience including; biking/ hiking trail building, general carpentry, welding/ fabrication, general electrical, and general plumbing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on Snowcats or other over snow machinery
  • Experience operating and maintaining ski lifts
  • Experience in project management

This is currently a full-time hourly position, expected to be 30-40 hours per week
