Rate of Pay: $16.00+ hourly. 

Hatcher Alpine Xperience is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization developing Skeetawk; a new alpine ski, snowboard, and recreation facility in Hatcher Pass (Palmer) Alaska. We are hiring a Full-time Ski Instructor to teach group and private lessons to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Level 1 or higher PSIA/AASI Certification, or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to Ski for extended periods of time, requiring lifting, bending and twisting
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work outdoors in cold climates for extended periods of time. 

Position Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

The Ski Instructor is responsible for teaching group and private lessons to guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Elements of this responsibility include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assess student abilities in a reasonable amount of time to develop a strategy for improving their skill
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to students to improve their skiing abilities
  • Moderate athletic ability is required to perform all job related tasks
  • Work in good cooperation with rental staff, ski patrollers, lift operators, and groomers to ensure a safe a enjoyable guest experience

This is a full time seasonal position with an average of 30-40 hours per week during the operating season. Regular Schedule is Thursday – Monday, and all MSBSD holidays.

Rate of Pay: $70,000+ salary

The Construction Manager will oversee and manage capital construction projects from breaking-ground to completion, and will be responsible for coordinating facility maintenance and permitting. This position is responsible to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and within budgetary restraints. The Construction Manager must have a high level of construction knowledge, and is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, architects, engineers, and local authorities to ensure seamless project delivery while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards. 

Skeetawk is a non-profit ski area with the mission to develop and maintain a regional alpine ski area in Hatcher Pass to promote safe outdoor recreation, education, and healthy lifestyles. As a growing non-profit, all employees are expected to work together completing the mission of the organization in whatever capacity is most needed. While employees are hired to prioritize specific roles, there is a strong culture of teamwork and an expectation to complete cross-training across multiple departments for the purpose of mission success. 

Primary responsibilities:

Capital Project Installment

  • Collaborate with staff, engineers, and architects to develop future projects
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate with staff and subcontractors to ensure seamless project completion
  • Coordinate resources, material, and equipment procurement to ensure timely project execution
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules, safety protocols, quality standards, and compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Implement corrective measures and follow-up procedures to maintain quality throughout the construction process

Facility Maintenance and Permitting

  • Collaborate with staff and subcontractors to maintain and repair existing site infrastructure
  • Develop protocols for monitoring and preventative maintenance to existing facilities
  • Coordinate resources, materials, equipment, and subcontractors for maintenance and repair of existing facilities
  • Ensure all site facilities, not otherwise under ski area specific regulatory agencies, are in compliance with local regulations, code compliance, and permitting

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of construction experience
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and best practices for all construction related trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, excavation, concrete, etc)
  • Experience in Construction Management, Project Management, or similar construction industry role
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to operate successfully in a fast paced dynamic environment, blending daily customer facing operations with capital improvement projects

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction field and/or Certification in Construction Management or related field
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification – or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
  • HAZWOPER Certification – or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
  • Heavy equipment operation certification or equivalent experience
